Dress Code
Ballet
1. Leotard: A fitted leotard is standard. Black or pink are preferred.
2. Tights: Pink or flesh-colored tights. Males may wear black or white tights.
3. Ballet Shoes: Soft black or pink ballet slippers are required.
4. Hair: Hair should be neatly pulled back into a bun.
5. Pointe Shoes if necessary
(Optional) Skirt, leg warmers, wrap sweaters
Tap
1. Tap Shoes: Proper tap shoes are essential.
2. Comfortable Clothing can include:
- Leotards and Tights: flexibility in style and color.
- Dance Pants or Leggings: Stretchy, form-fitting pants or leggings are allowed
- Fitted Tops: A fitted t-shirt, tank top, or sports bra that stays in place while moving.
3. Hair: Hair should be neatly pulled back and secured.
Acro
1. Leotard or Form-Fitting Top: A leotard, sports bra, or a snug-fitting top is essential to allow for full range of motion and for instructors to see alignment and body positions clearly.
2. Leggings or Tight-Fitting Shorts: Wear leggings, capris, or tight-fitting shorts to ensure that clothing does not get caught.
3. Bare Feet: Acro is usually performed barefoot to provide better grip and control.
4. Hair: Hair should be pulled back and secured away.
Jazz
1. Fitted Tops: A leotard, fitted tank top, or sports bra are ideal.
2. Leggings, Jazz Pants, or Shorts: Wear form-fitting dance pants, leggings, or dance shorts.
3. Jazz Shoes: Pirouette Shoe or other approved dance shoes are acceptable.
4. Hair: Hair should be pulled back away from the face.
Hip Hop
1. Comfortable Tops: Wear t-shirts, tank tops, or sports bras
2. Pants or Shorts: Baggy pants, sweatpants, joggers, dance shorts or leggings are encouraged.
3. Sneakers: Proper dance sneakers or clean athletic sneakers are essential. Dancers may attend barefoot if they choose.
4. Hair: Hair can be worn in any style.
Lyrical/Contemporary
1. Leotard or Fitted Top: A leotard, fitted tank top, or sports bra is recommended.
2. Leggings, Tights, or Dance Shorts: Wear leggings, footless tights, or dance shorts that allow for a full range of motion.
3. Footwear: Many dancers in lyrical and contemporary classes go barefoot, or wear half-sole shoes or foot undeez that provide some protection while maintaining the feel of dancing barefoot.
4. Hair: Hair should be secured away from the face.
Technique or Leaps and Turns
1. Fitted Tops: A leotard, fitted tank top, or sports bra are ideal.
2. Leggings, Jazz Pants, or Shorts: Wear form-fitting dance pants, leggings, or dance shorts.
3. Dance Shoes: Barefoot, half sole shoes, jazz shoes, foot undeez are acceptable
4. Hair: Hair should be neatly pulled back.
Any Other Class
1. Tops: Fitted tank tops, sports bras or leotards that allow for free movement.
2. Bottoms: Leggings, dance shorts, or jazz pants.
3. Footwear: Most classes will allow barefoot, half soles, or foot undeez. Ballet slippers, jazz shoes, tap shoes, or sneakers might be needed.
4. Hair: Hair should be secured away from the face.
